Why do I worry so much?

"One of the most prevalent fears people have is that of losing control. This is the fear that if you don't manage to control the outcome of future events, something terrible will happen."

I would say, YES, I'm afraid of losing controls of the things I do or things that are happening to me. I prefer to have everything controlled. But the thing is, not everything can be controlled such as the condition of weather, unexpected things in the family, workplace, our community or even our neighborhood. Who can do that but God, Himself?

So does this mean we just lay everything to Him and do nothing? Of course NOT! Remember, having faith is one thing, DO what you believe is the other thing. And God gives us 24 hours time to learn and do the right things. Another question follows, have I managed my time well and wisely?

Last Monday, I was having my second Zumba class meeting at Life Studio
which is located at the Altira building near The Mall of Indonesia, North Jakarta. The class started at 5:30 pm and on my way to the studio, I began to realize that I was totally felt calm and secure even though the location sounds quite far. It was so much different compared to my first trip. I got panic! So worry not knowing where the location was and whether I would be late for the class or not (apparently, it took only less than 25 minutes to reach there). I always prefer to be at least 30 minutes earlier before starting my class to make sure the sound system, playlist and other things to run smooth. That moment was horrible knowing nothing about something which was actually can be countered if I was prepared.
This experience somehow takes me to the understanding about what is the cause of worry and how it is laid open before us the answers to all of our troubles. To know our ways, we have our personal Road Map and Compass which is the Bible. Learn and master it then you will know where to go and what to do in such of these challenges of life. And NEVER forget that we have our Personal Guide who is the Holy Spirit which is stated clearly in:
John 14:26
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
Therefore, keep asking Him, our kind Father to grant us His mercy and love toward us. Seek for His wisdom and understanding. Get closer to the Holy Spirit and be sensible.
Proverb 3:6
Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Can Excessive Worry Make Me Physically Ill?

Chronic worry and emotional stress can trigger a host of health problems. The problem occurs when fight or flight is triggered daily by excessive worrying and anxiety. The fight or flight response causes the body’s sympathetic nervous system to release stress hormones such as cortisol. These hormones can boost blood sugar levels and triglycerides(blood fats) that can be used by the body for fuel. The hormones also cause physical reactions such as:

  • Difficulty swallowing

  • Dizziness

  • Dry mouth

  • Fast heartbeat

  • Fatigue

  • Headaches

  • Inability to concentrate

  • Irritability

  • Muscle aches

  • Muscle tension

  • Nausea

  • Nervous energy

  • Rapid breathing

  • Shortness of breath

  • Sweating

  • Trembling and twitching

When the excessive fuel in the blood isn’t used for physical activities, the chronic anxiety and outpouring of stress hormones can have serious physical consequences, including:

  • Suppression of the immune system

  • Digestive disorders

  • Muscle tension

  • Short-term memory loss

  • Premature coronary artery disease

  • Heart attack
